This Friday, the International Court of Justice ordered Israel to prevent any genocide in Gaza, after South Africa accused it of committing one against the Palestinians.

Immediacy and efficiency
The country is urged to take "immediate and effective measures to enable the provision of basic services and humanitarian assistance that Palestinians urgently need to address the unfavorable living conditions faced by Palestinians", ruled the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in its highly anticipated verdict.

Separately, the UN's highest court on Friday ordered Israel to allow humanitarian access to Gaza, issuing a historic verdict in a case that has attracted worldwide attention.
Note that while the order is legally binding, in fact, the ICJ has no means of enforcing its decision.
In the early days of the affair, Israel castigated the legal proceedings launched by South Africa.
Israeli airline El Al announced on Friday that it would suspend flights to South Africa from the end of March, citing a drop in demand due to the war.
Southern Gaza Strip shelled
Several residents interviewed by AFP in Rafah, in the south of the Gaza Strip, say they are grateful to South Africa.
Thousands of civilians have fled in recent days from the large city of Khan Younes, relentlessly shelled by Israel.

According to the Hamas Ministry of Health, 183 people were killed in 24 hours in Gaza, while intense fighting raged near the Nasser hospital in Khan Younes, one of the largest in the territory.
After the United States, France “condemned” these shootings.
Germany declared itself “extremely concerned” by the “desperate situation” of civilians in Khan Yunis.
