Region - The key allocations from the Free State are an important source of income for the municipalities every year.

They cushion high spending and tax weakness.

More money flowed into the Weilheim-Schongau district this year than last year.

We have to cut back,” said District Administrator Andrea Jochner-Weiß (CSU) recently at the annual press conference.

The district budget for 2024 is expected to include an increased district levy of 55 - it will be passed by the district council in March.

The topic had already dominated the meetings recently and led to loud expressions of opinion in some places.

“We know that the communities are just as on the ropes as we are,” admits Jochner-Weiß.

It is now clear which key allocations they can prepare for in 2024.

The offices of the two state parliament members Harald Kühn (CSU) and Susann Enders (FW) passed on the information from the State Ministry of Finance and Homeland.

Not everyone gets anything

“When calculating the key allocation of each municipality, the average expenditure burden and its own tax capacity are assumed,” reads the relevant legal text.

Additional burdens due to structural weaknesses, population decline and child care must be taken into account.

It may be that one or two city, market or community funds receive nothing - in the district this will be the case in Altenstadt, Eglfing, Habach, Iffeldorf, Penzberg, Schongau, Seeshaupt and Wessobrunn in 2024.

A good 21 million euros for municipalities

The other local municipalities will receive a total of a good 21 million euros;

the previous year it was almost half a million more.

The district key allocations for 2024 amount to almost 23.4 million (previous year: 20.1). “In 2024, the Weilheim-Schongau district and its cities, markets and municipalities will receive a total of approx.

44.4 million euros supported,” says state parliament member Kühn.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen: Almost 20 million euros for municipalities

Around 44 million euros will go to the

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district

this year , including almost 20 million euros for the municipalities.

This was announced by state parliament member Thomas Holz (CSU) from Kochel.

“Amidst the challenges and growing expenses, there is one certainty: our communities can always count on the support of the Free State of Bavaria,” affirms the CSU politician.

Among others: Bad Heilbrunn: 591,988 euros, Bad Tölz: 2,355,772 euros,

4.44 billion euros in Bavaria

Subject to a decision by the state parliament, 4.44 billion euros are available across Bavaria for key allocations.

That is 174.8 million more than last year and, according to Enders, more than ever before.

The funds are the largest single item out of a total of 11.38 billion in the municipal financial equalization.

Strengthen local self-government

The key allocations are an important source of income for many municipalities - in addition to their own tax revenues.

“In this way, we are strengthening local self-government and enabling tailor-made offers on site,” says Kühn.

Enders agrees that efficient municipalities are important.

“The additional funds will help Bavarian cities and municipalities get much-needed relief, as inflation, high energy prices and additional expenses related to the care and accommodation of refugees have put the municipalities under considerable financial pressure in recent months,” said the Free Voters MP.
