Enthusiastic crowds: The open air at the Vöttinger Weiher was a magnet for visitors beyond the district - and will be again in 2024.

Planning for the comeback of the Open Air is in full swing.

– First and foremost, the new edition of the legendary Vöttinger Weiher “Open Airs” should be mentioned, which will take place again on Friday, July 26th and Saturday, July 27th after a break of over eight years (we reported) .
The plans for this are in full swing, as chairman Robert Pietsch announced.
A security concept is therefore in the works.
A twelve-person team is also currently in the process of conducting negotiations with bands, establishing contacts with service providers and coordinating everything with the responsible city departments.
As far as the bands and possible headliners of the PLUS festival are concerned, the partially newly formed management team is still keeping a low profile.
In October, Johanna Kaindl took over the position of third chairwoman.
She succeeded Clemens Gutmann, who left the committee.
The first chairman is and remains Christian Richter.
The same applies to the second board position, which – as reported – is still held by Robert Pietsch.
Attention is paid to bands from German-speaking countries
Pietsch is in charge of organizing the PLUS Festival.
Richter takes care of the “Night of Music” and “Kino am Rang” and Johanna Kaindl takes care of new formats, such as the “Wandelbar” on Obere Hauptstrasse, which has recently been operated several times.
But depending on what's going on, everyone is involved and starts together.
There will soon be an announcement on the state of affairs at the PLUS Festival, which the club is also using as an opportunity to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
The focus should be on bands and music groups from German-speaking countries.
The spectrum ranges from alternative and indie rock to hip hop and electronic music, as Richter said when asked by the FT.
The security concept should be in place by spring
The size and scope of the two-day event would be adapted to the new conditions at the Vöttinger Weiher created by the western bypass, it was said.
“It won’t be like it was back then, it will be a little smaller,” revealed Richter.
More details need to be agreed with the public order office.
The security concept should be in place by spring and presented to the responsible authorities.
What is already certain is that there will be a lakeside stage again, where a whole series of local DJs will provide danceable background noise away from the live stage.
