María Lucrecia Arias was 51 years old.
She was returning to her house in Castelar, Morón district, with her 17-
year-old daughter when she was murdered by a gang of criminals
who tried to steal her car.
The woman was an employee of Arcos Dorados, the company that owns McDonald's, where she worked as an operations consultant in the western area.
The incident
occurred after 11 p.m.
at the intersection of San Nicolás and Salcedo streets in Castelar Norte, in the western area of the suburbs.
The victim was approached by four criminals aboard a dark car.
There they tried to steal her Volkswagen Suran, but she ended up murdered by one of the criminals at the moment when her seat belt apparently got stuck when the criminals were pointing guns at her.
The main hypothesis used by the head of the Morón Prosecutor's Instruction Unit 7, Matías Rapazzo, is that Arias' seat belt apparently got stuck and she could not immediately get out of the car when the criminals threatened her with robbery purposes. which is why they shot him at least once in the head.
The victim's daughter, for her part, managed to get out of the vehicle and escape while shouting for help from the neighbors, so she was not hit by any projectile.
The assailants, for their part, escaped without carrying out the robbery, while the residents of the area who heard the shot called the police from the Castelar Norte police station.
Judicial sources said that from the scene of the victim's car, experts lifted fingerprints and traces, while images from security cameras in the area were seized in order to advance in the identification of the criminals.
Additionally, based on the evidence collected, investigators determined that the woman was killed with a shot fired from a 9 millimeter caliber pistol.
Shortly after the attack, a black Peugeot 2008 that is believed to have been used at the time of the incident was found in the area of the Ejercito de los Andes neighborhood, known as "Fuerte Apache", in Ciudadela, so it was seized for the corresponding investigations.
