The demonstrations against the right are against contempt for humanity and hatred of minorities.

Chanting “hate” doesn’t achieve the goal.

Comment.

In the past few days, some people from the Erding district have painted signs, put on warm socks, put on hats and set off - to demonstrations against the right in Munich, Freising or Landshut.

Organizers everywhere were overwhelmed by the turnout.

There were over 200,000 participants in the state capital on Sunday, 4,000 in Freising on Tuesday and 7,000 in Landshut on Wednesday.

The otherwise silent majority is now standing up and opposing right-wing extremist ideas.

Many people were alarmed by right-wing fantasies about “remigration”, i.e. the expulsion of people whose roots actually or supposedly lie outside the country.

The focus of criticism is the AfD.

According to surveys, the party is becoming increasingly stronger, even though leading members like Björn Höcke are spreading right-wing radical theses.

And so a chant spread from demo to demo across Germany: “All of Munich hates the AfD,” thousands chanted.

Elsewhere it was “All of Bremen…” or “All of Landshut…”

One of the speakers made an important point there.

When Nina Lubomierski began with “All of Landshut…”, the demonstrators wanted to carry on as usual.

But the Protestant dean interrupted and started a new variation: “The whole of Landshut loves democracy!” Everyone picked up on this, including the older gentleman in the crowd who had previously remained silent and said, shaking his head: “Hate only breeds hate.”

Because right-wing extremist hatred of people must be combated with democratic means - and not with hatred.

AfD voters must be convinced with arguments and truthfulness.

Hate ends every conversation before it begins.

The “Colorful instead of brown” alliance is now inviting people to a demonstration on Sunday, February 4th at 2 p.m. at the Erdinger Volksfestplatz.

Certainly not without ulterior motives at the location of the heating demonstration, in which the boundaries of democratic debates were stretched and sometimes overused.

But the space is large and the bar is set high with 13,000 heating demo participants.

A significantly smaller influx will certainly be commented on with malice on the right-hand side.

It is the right approach that local groups like “Dorfen ist bunt” consciously join this district-wide invitation so that not everyone cooks their own soup in front of a small audience.

And you might also hear: “The whole of Erding loves democracy!”
