Brutal attack after the anti-Israel demonstration.
Several men beat up a reporter and his companion on the way home.
State security is investigating.
Leipzig – On Wednesday evening (January 24th) there was a serious attack on a TV journalist and his companion on the sidelines of a pro-Palestine demo in Leipzig.
According to police information, the victims are two young men aged 20 and 22.

According to current knowledge, the journalist was working on behalf of
Sachsen Fernsehen
at the demonstration, where Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg also gave a speech.
Around 200 people took part in the registered demonstration.
The TV reporter is said to have been prevented from doing his work by a steward during the demonstration, as

When the 22-year-old and his companion then wanted to get on a tram, three unknown men beat them and then fled in different directions, it was said.
Despite search measures that were immediately initiated, the suspects could not be found.
The journalist and his companion sustained injuries and had to be treated in hospital, the police said.

, Benedict Bartsch, condemned the attack in the strongest possible terms: “Violence against journalists is absolutely unacceptable and threatens the fundamental values of press freedom.
We wish our reporter and his companion a speedy recovery from the injuries they sustained.”
Investigations into suspected grievous bodily harm are ongoing.

The pro-Palestine event in Leipzig had already made headlines because of Thunberg's participation and speech.
