Dear readers,

Arnaud Beltrame is a hero.

A real.

A hero who inspires admiration and whose name should be learned in all schools in France.

On March 23, 2018, the lieutenant colonel exchanged his “places” with that of a cashier taken hostage.

“Arnaud Beltrame is not a victim, he died in combat, for France,”

said Me Thibault de Montbrial, lawyer for the Beltrame family, before the start of the trial for the Trèbes and Carcassonne attacks.

The hearing opened on Monday January 22 without the killer - Islamist terrorist Radouane Lakdim was killed by the police after having murdered four people - but with seven accused.

Among them, a fanatic girlfriend, a boyfriend on the run and city bosses.

THE STORY OF THE FIRST DAY OF THE HEARING

In the rest of the current news…

  • A farmer and her daughter killed in Ariège

After little Lola killed in her 19th century building, Claire raped in her building lobby in Paris and a multitude of less publicized news items, yet another case involves individuals subject to an obligation to leave French territory.

The now famous OQTF.

This time, it was a breeder, Alexandra Sonac, and her 12-year-old daughter, Camille, who paid with their lives.

Tuesday January 23 at dawn, on the RN 20 linking Toulouse to Andorra, a vehicle ran into a straw barrier erected by farmers.

The straw wall was covered with a large black tarpaulin.

Protesters who were eating were just behind.

The car, caught in its momentum, hit three members of the same family before ending its course against the trailer of a tractor.

The occupants?

Three Armenians under OQTF.

The driver was indicted for “aggravated manslaughter”.

The two passengers were released.

  • Murder of Sandra, 23, in a Franprix

The trial of Shamran Mehmood Raja opened Tuesday January 23 before the Créteil Assize Court (Val-de-Marne).

This 37-year-old Pakistani man is suspected of having killed Sandra, a 23-year-old student, who was doing an internship in an ice cream company.

The young woman toured Franprix de l'Essonne to check the visibility of the products on the shelves.

Shamran ran the cash register at the Franprix in Quincy-sous-Sénart.

The young woman's body was found in the trunk of her car.

The young woman was still dressed but barefoot.

His wrists and ankles were bound with duct tape.

His face was completely wrapped in tape.

According to the autopsy, Sandra died of strangulation and asphyxiation.

His corpse was very likely kept in the Franprix cold room.

THE STORY OF THE FIRST DAY OF THE HEARING

  • The paranoid disorders of the “madman from the Cévennes”

Valentin Marcone is on trial for the assassination of his boss, Luc Teissonnière, 54, and his colleague, Martial Guérin, 32, shot dead on May 11, 2021 at the Plantiers sawmill, in Gard.

After the double homicide, this firearms enthusiast holed up for four days in a wild boar hole in the middle of the forest.

Bullying at school, then professional conflicts, gave rise to a feeling of insecurity and persecution in Valentin Marcone.

Sentenced two days later to 20 years in prison, with a two-thirds security period, Heaulme benefited from slight mitigating circumstances linked to his particularly sordid childhood.

He will be convicted of ten other homicides, committed between 1984 and 1992, including the double murder in Montigny-lès-Metz.

In October 2023, he was indicted for a
