Herrsching's mayor Christian Schiller is the new chairman of the special purpose association for secondary schools in the western district.

He succeeds his Gilching counterpart Manfred Walter.

Gilching

- For ten years, Gilching's mayor Manfred Walter was chairman of the association of secondary schools in the western district, which is responsible for the Christoph-Probst-Gymnasium (CPG) Gilching and the state secondary school.

In December he announced his resignation at the end of January.

As the head of a large community like Gilching, he said (we reported) that he no longer had time to take care of the association's needs to everyone's satisfaction.

Now his successor has been chosen: Herrsching's mayor Christian Schiller.

The meeting of the special purpose association took place on Wednesday in the rooms of the CPG.

20 members came and, “despite the stomach churning” (Andechs' mayor Georg Scheitz), under the chairmanship of Walter, they unanimously approved a gradual increase in the association's levy for the seven member communities.

The adjustment was increased from 1.5 million euros (2023) to 1.65 million euros for this year and 1.75 million euros in 2025.

“Under the current conditions, the planned increase appears to be sufficient in the medium term,” explained Andreas Spörl, who is responsible for finance in the association.

“If it turns out that we need less, we will of course correct the numbers downwards.” For Andechs, this means that the municipality will now have to pay 93,644 euros this year instead of 85,131 euros, Scheitz calculated.

“That means that we have to take out a loan to pay the association levy.” The assembly also unanimously approved the budget for the current year with a volume of 7.1 million euros – 4.3 million euros in the administrative budget for ongoing costs , 2.8 million euros in the asset budget for investments.

Spörl stated the planned borrowing was 500,000 euros, and a planned withdrawal from the reserve was 269,000 euros.

Investments in the CPG include, among other things, the renewal of the telephone system and the fire alarms as well as the purchase of an awning.

In the Herrsching secondary school, the majority of the windows need to be retrofitted with new fittings.

The renewal of the telephone system as well as the expansion of the servers, hardware and software as well as the construction of a teacher's library are also on the agenda.

After completing the financial formalities, Manfred Walter resigned from his position.

As a thank you, his previous deputy Christian Schiller presented him with a voucher for a “wonderful culinary evening”.

“I am leaving my position with a heavy heart because it was fun working in a great team.

But the time burden on me has become so great that I have already received physical signals to stop,” explained Walter.

Schiller had “great respect” for this decision and assured that he was looking forward to the new challenge.

Weßling Mayor Michael Sturm was elected as his deputy, also unanimously.
