A few days after the interview given to American television host Tucker Carlson, Vladimir Putin returned to the two hours of exchanges during another interview, given to Russian television.
The first interview given by the head of the Kremlin to a foreign journalist in three years, and since Russia's invasion of Ukraine almost two years ago, had turned into a demonstration in favor of the Russian president.
“To be honest, I thought he would behave aggressively and ask pointed questions,”
said the head of state
.
I was not only prepared for this, I wanted it, because it would have given me the opportunity to respond in kind.”
Vladimir Putin also said he was surprised by the lack of aggressiveness of conservative presenter Tucker Carlson, close to Donald Trump, and said he was disconcerted by the lack
of “interruption”
in his long answers.
“Frankly, this interview did not give me complete satisfaction,”
assured the Russian president who nevertheless said he was “
grateful”
to the host for being able to express himself in a Western media since (Russia)
“ is not able to have a direct dialogue [with the West] today.”
