The Tannerhof in Bayrischzell would like to set up a photovoltaic system in an open area.

There was a need for discussion in the local council, but the committee postponed the decision.

Bayrischzell – Tannerhof wants a double-sided PV system with 504 modules in three rows of 73 meters each, oriented to the east and west.

The location on the slope would be in the south-east.

“Our design statutes state that photovoltaic systems are generally only permitted on roofs,” explained managing director Josef Acher.

Photovoltaics on meadow in Bayrischzell: Discussion in the local council

Applicant and former local councilor Burgi von Mengershausen from Tannerhof came to the local council meeting as a listener and was allowed to briefly present her project.

It is clear to them that more electricity will be needed in the future.

“We may have to switch from our wood chip heating system to a heat pump at some point,” she said.

“We can’t put everything on the roofs.” And she also made it clear that the animals should continue to graze on the meadow and could then even take shelter.

Decision could set a precedent

“It shocks me on the green field,” said Willi Kravanja (independent).

Georg Kittenrainer is afraid of setting a precedent with this decision.

“And how do we handle this in the future?” asked the mayor to the group.

“We have farms that rely on leased land,” he emphasized.

It is no secret that solar systems can generate more yield than agricultural use.

In addition, many roofs in Bayrischzell are still unused.

Discussion about solution in the parking lot

For Klaus Weilbach (CSU) this is a fundamental decision.

“At the end of the day, it’s a visual story,” he said.

“I am a friend of PV systems, but not in open spaces,” said Deputy Mayor Egid Stadler (CSU).

The only compromise for him would be a PV system that would be built over the Tannerhof parking lot.

“For example, photovoltaic trees,” he said.

Burgi von Mengershausen emphasized that the project is not about making money, but rather about supplying the Tannerhof with electricity in the future.

Using the parking spaces would not be sufficient for them.

Regina Bleier (CSU) asked whether the solar cells could be distributed on the roofs.

“Because you have an awful lot of roofs,” she said.

The effort would be too great for Burgi von Mengershausen.

“It is very small-scale and lines would have to be laid everywhere to the headquarters,” she explained.

Isidor Scharmann (FWG) suggested another place at Tannerhof.

Klaus Weilbach then asked to postpone the application.

A suitable solution should be sought during a joint on-site visit.
