Three people were injured with knives during a brawl in Évreux (Eure) at the end of last week,
Le Figaro
learned from the Évreux public prosecutor's office, confirming information from
France Bleu Normandie
.
This conflict opposed
“young people belonging to the Chechen community of Évreux”
and
“it seems”,
young people of African origin
“probably”
residing in Évreux as well, details Rémi Coutin, the prosecutor of the court of Évreux.
A flagrant investigation was opened and entrusted by the Évreux public prosecutor's office as a
"co-referral to the Evreux police station and the Rouen judicial police"
for attempted homicides and aggravated violence, the public prosecutor's office further reports.
Violent brawl
It was around 5 p.m. in the Madeleine district that a violent clash between several people of different ethnicities began.
In this brawl,
“at least”
three members of the Chechen community were injured with knives, indicates Rémi Coutin, specifying that one of the victims saw his life threatened
“for a few hours.”
To date, investigations are continuing and no arrests have yet been made.
The Madeleine district undermined by drugs
This is not the first time that the Madeleine district has been the scene of violent conflicts.
Already in July 2023, two people lost their lives during a shooting.
On the night of July 24 to 25, two men dressed in black and hooded walked towards a car and fired in its direction.
The perpetrators fled by car.
La Madeleine is a delicate district of Évreux, particularly known for its drug trafficking.
The city had witnessed numerous riots after the death of Nahel, the teenager killed by a police officer in Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine) during a road check on June 27.
Street furniture had been burned while many businesses had been ransacked.
