The Gruber Foundation's training building is currently not allowed to be completed: construction is halted.
That's why the foundation has applied for it to be used as a refugee home.
But this should only be an interim solution.
Rottach-Egern
– The interior work on the Gruber Foundation’s training building on Rottacher Reiffenstuelweg should actually be progressing at full steam at the moment.
But because a neighborhood lawsuit forced a construction stop for the second time, the foundation is now pursuing other plans.
As reported, an application has been made for the building to be converted into shared accommodation for refugees.
We were talking about 54 asylum seekers.
Basically, the Gruber Kosmetik company sticks to its original purpose.
The refugee accommodation is an interim use, explains the foundation in a statement on its homepage: “A period of five years is planned for this interim use, although the details still need to be clarified.”
Chairwoman of the board of trustees rejects allegations
Irene Bopp, Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees, explains at this point that she was “extremely concerned” about the allegations made in the media that the Gruber Foundation wanted to take advantage of the residents’ fear of a refugee home in order to exert pressure.
She rejects these allegations in the strongest possible terms.
By training beauticians, the company wants to strengthen the Gruber Kosmetik brand and generate income to promote social causes, it goes on to say.
However, the construction stop prompted the foundation to immediately invest in a social project instead, namely communal accommodation.
She finally applied for this interim use - which had been developed for months.
The foundation also sees this as an opportunity to compensate for at least part of the damage caused by the construction stop.
“The damage is already significant and amounts to six-figure euros,” says the foundation.
And it is likely to become much larger if the construction freeze applies for a longer period of time.
The Gruber Foundation makes it clear that the open building shell is particularly problematic.
If the project fails, the Gruber Foundation will look for a new location
According to the company's presentation, the training building cannot be dispensed with under any circumstances.
“If the project in Rottach-Egern fails, the foundation will therefore look for a new location for the headquarters of its KG and the training building in another district municipality,” says the statement.
Neighborhood conflict for two years
The neighborhood conflict has been going on for two years.
After the first construction stop imposed by the court, the Gruber Foundation changed the operating concept and submitted a new building application in December 2023.
The number of training participants was reduced from 30 to ten.
The foundation assures that the foundation never used a “trick” with this approach.
Rather, the district office requested that it not just be a tecture, i.e. a change, but that a second building application be submitted for approval.

Third attempt at realization
However, the approach was not successful and the plaintiff again obtained a construction stop.
The application submitted to the town hall last week to set up refugee accommodation is now the third attempt to realize the construction project.
Mayor Köck told our newspaper that the foundation also wanted the area designated as a residential area to be converted into a mixed area.
No application has been made for this, explains the foundation.
The municipality of Rottach-Egern was never told how legally secure the prerequisites for the admissibility of a training building on site should be created.
