Schwabbruck's town hall boss gave a comprehensive report at the citizens' meeting.

He also announced that he would no longer run for office in the next election.

Schwabbruck - There were numerous topics that Schwabbruck's mayor Norbert Essich addressed at the most recent citizens' meeting.

Starting with the population (1056) through asylum seekers (38) and the house structure (285 inhabited houses, ten uninhabited, 434 households), there was a brief overview of the 2023 budget (we reported).

When it comes to kindergarten staff, we are well positioned, says Essich.

Five educators, seven nannies and two assistants are employed.

69 children attend the facility - some of whom “need additional care”.

The converted rooms in the town hall could be used in time for the new kindergarten year (we reported).

“No child had to go somewhere else or stay at home,” said Essich.

The parish administration is scheduled to move into the rectory at the beginning of May.

The costs for construction phase II are 688,000 euros.

This year, the people of Schwabbruck came together at the Schäferwirt to find out about the past and planned events in their community.

Increased water loss in Schwabbruck

According to Essich, increased water loss has been recorded in the community (13.4 percent in 2023; in 2022 it was 8.7 percent).

The water warden did find leaks that were repaired.

But we are still looking, says Essich.

When it comes to the “flood association” with the other municipalities in the administrative community, “not much has happened” since last year, said the mayor.

“It’s tough, but we’re on it.”

48 homeowners want to connect to Dorfenergie Schwabsoien's local heating network.

“Four have everything prepared in case the existing heating fails,” says Essich.

Defects in ducts should be remedied immediately during the laying of the cables.

The renovation concept for the sewer network (we reported) is making further progress.

Anyone who is interested in having a camera used on the private canal as part of the investigation (for an additional charge) can contact the municipality.

It was discovered that during heavy rain, too much water flows into the town from the sports field.

A pool of lakes will serve as a rain overflow basin in the future.

The affected property owners agreed.

Norbert Esss no longer wants to run in the next mayoral election

In November 2022, the local council initiated changes to the “Burggener Straße” development plan.

Around ten building plots are planned.

The process should be completed by December, said Essich.

The Auerbergland network tackled a lot of things - a Schönach terrace and a selfie point, for example.

Three dirt roads were renovated.

The community granted a grant of 50,000 euros for the church renovation.

The Rosary Chapel is also being renovated.

After the next local elections in 2026, there will be twelve instead of eight local councilors - and a new mayor.

Essich announced that he would no longer run for office.

He enjoys doing the work, but everything takes time.

At the end of the coming legislative period he would be 72 – “a younger person has to take over,” said Essich.

New fire brigade commander welcomed in Schwabbruck

As part of the citizens' meeting, Essich also said goodbye to the previous fire department commander Hubert Pfettrisch - he was first commander for 15 years and second commander for three years - and welcomed his successor Wolfgang Weber.

“Hats off to what the fire brigade is doing,” said Essich and recalled two large-scale exercises last year.

Essich also mentioned many events that clubs had organized.

From the theater of the rural youth, which now has a new chairman in Johannes Seelos, to the summer night festival of the music band to meetings organized by the veterans' association or the senior citizens' representative.

Comment from a Schwabbrucker at a citizens' meeting

There were no questions from the public at the meeting.

Just a note: some councils announced more openness in the last election, according to one citizen.

He wanted to remember that.

When he attended local council meetings, the public part often only lasted ten minutes.

The committee should think about how it could make the meetings more interesting for citizens.
