According to a survey, Black-Green in North Rhine-Westphalia is firmly in the saddle.

But the results for the SPD and FDP are alarming.

Düsseldorf - Almost two years after the state elections, the ruling CDU in North Rhine-Westphalia is increasing in favor with voters, according to a survey, and Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst can strengthen his position.

The SPD, on the other hand, is experiencing a drastic drop to just 16 percent (2022: 26.7 percent).

This is the result of a representative survey published on Wednesday by the opinion research institute Forsa on behalf of 38 North Rhine-Westphalia daily newspapers.

If elections were held on Sunday, the CDU could increase to 37 percent after 35.7 percent in the 2022 election.

At 16 percent, the Greens would perform weaker than in 2022 (18.2 percent).

But black-green could continue to govern.

According to the survey, the AfD could improve to 13 percent (2022: 5.4 percent).

The FDP, Left and Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) would fail at the five percent hurdle.

The Liberals would no longer be represented in the Düsseldorf state parliament.

Satisfaction with the black-green state government has increased from 38 percent to 47 percent since the “NRW Check” in June 2023.

53 percent of those surveyed were satisfied with Prime Minister Wüst's work.

In June 2023 it was still 50 percent.

The survey results are likely to be alarming for the SPD.

Accordingly, 89 percent of those eligible to vote and 73 percent of SPD supporters cannot name a political actor from the NRW SPD.

The new dual leadership of the state association with the largest number of members, Sarah Philipp and Achim Post, is only known to two percent of voters.

In the survey from March 5th to 14th, only 46 percent of those surveyed knew that there would be a European election in June.

68 percent of those eligible to vote currently see the war in Ukraine and the threat to peace in Europe as the biggest problems in the country.

In second place is concern about the rise of right-wing extremism (59 percent) and in third place is the situation in schools in the country (55 percent).
