Panagiota Petridou was sharply criticized because she is still breastfeeding her 2-year-old child.
Now the TV presenter is defending her decision.
Düsseldorf – In February 2022, Panagiota Petridou (44) welcomed her first baby into the world.
Since then, everything in the life of the former “Offer a rusty car, look for a dream car” presenter has revolved around “Mini Cooperino,” as she affectionately calls her offspring.
Her little darling is now 25 months old.
However, the fact that the German-Greek woman is still breastfeeding is being criticized online.
In an emotional Instagram post, she gets even with her critics.
Panagiota Petridou defends herself against criticism: That's why she breastfeeds her 2-year-old child
"Now I've been breastfeeding for over 25 months and I notice how often I'm asked 'How much longer do you want to breastfeed?'
Or 'It's no longer normal for this long, nothing comes of it anymore, the child doesn't need it at all,'” writes the TV car saleswoman.
Breastfeeding is often “exhausting”, “exhausting” and “complicated”, but ultimately “it is also the easiest and most beautiful thing for both of us”.
Panagiota Petridou is convinced of the numerous advantages of breastfeeding: “Always ready, perfect temperature, natural and healthy and a special bond of absolute trust is there,” she lists.
“It is the best all-purpose weapon against insecurity, illness, pain and offers total security and love.” She is often asked when “we will finally stop”.
Her answer is clear: “When Mini thinks it’s time.” The 44-year-old doesn’t want to force her child to do anything that he or she isn’t ready for.
Panagiota Petridou: Breastfeeding is an individual decision
She finds the double standards particularly bad.
“It's so bizarre, no one says anything when you give your 2-year-old child cow's milk or powder to drink from a carton or hold a bottle in your hand.
“Which is completely fine,” says Panagiota Petridou, describing her experiences.
“But if you're still breastfeeding, some people think you're exaggerated or even disgusting.
Everyone should do what they like, can and want to do.”
The moderator concludes her post with the following appeal: “I am in favor of concentrating on what is important: happy and contented children with happy mommies!” Negative comments are part of this in the age of social media, but Panagiota Petridou also receives a lot of support on Instagram .
