The police struck early on Wednesday morning: a total of six men fell into their net in Meiningen.

They are said to have dealt in drugs.

But the officers also find weapons.

Meiningen - Police arrested six people in a major drug raid in Meiningen.

A total of eight apartments in the city center were searched early Wednesday morning, as well as a shop and a garden shed, the police said.

A pistol, a rifle and machetes were found.

There were also around a kilogram of cannabis, 130 grams of methamphetamine, ecstasy and a small amount of cocaine.

The officers also seized 3,500 euros in cash and two stolen e-bikes.

Three men on the loose again

Arrest warrants were executed against two men, aged 36 and 31.

After being presented before the judge, they are now in prison.

A 27-year-old is scheduled to appear before the judge on Thursday morning.

Three other men aged 22, 30 and 42 were released.

There is, among other things, suspicion of drug trafficking, according to a police spokeswoman.

It now needs to be clarified whether the suspects acted as a gang.

The police tracked down the men in the course of a case against one of the accused that had been going on for some time.

The spokeswoman could not say who and what it was about.

The investigation then revealed indications of several possible perpetrators.

There were also indications from the public that there might have been drug deals in the inner city area.

"Where wood is chopped, splinters must fall"

The police reported that a total of 260 officers were involved in the raid as well as 12 service dogs.

Nobody was injured.

The police repaired the damage to the apartment doors with the help of a local carpenter.

"Where wood is chopped, splinters must fall.

“You can’t just ring the bell during a raid like this,” said the spokeswoman.
