had a difficult night

. The Chilean, who at 28 years old is going through a great moment in his career, took to the court to face
Daniil Medvedev
, world number four, and get into the semifinals; but he couldn't make the hit. From a rough warm-up, in which he accidentally hit a
ball girl
, to some points in which the net played tricks on him, luck was not on the Chilean's side, who despite playing a good game, they lost 6-2 and 7-6 (9-7) and said goodbye to the competition.
The match had not even started when Jarry, 23rd in the ranking, had the first shock
. It was in the middle of the warm-up, when he was setting up his serve. The Chilean hit a serve and the ball ended up hitting the face of a ball reacher who was just crossing the back of the court, he slipped and when he was trying to maintain his balance, he was hit.
Jarry's reaction was immediate
. Without wasting any time, he ran out to check that the ball girl was okay. Even Medvedev's wife, who was in the Russian's box, was worried about what happened (as the television cameras showed), but fortunately, the impact was not very strong and the girl was able to walk out of the stadium, escorted by Jarry.
The Chilean then exchanged a smile with his rival, who had also followed the moment closely, and continued preparing for the match, which did not start well for him.

Because the Muscovite, third seed, was better in the first set, which he won without many problems. But Jarry raised the level in the second and gave away some points that made the Chileans present on the court delirious. But it wasn't his night.
At the start of the second chapter, now much more confident, he was playing a great game with his serve and the score was 0-1 and 30-0. He made his opponent run from one end of the court to the other, but when he tried to close him down, he left the ball in the net. He still managed to take that game and put up a fight for the rest of the set, which was defined in a tight tie break.
"Not easy," Medvedev wrote on the camera lens (as winners are wont to do), acknowledging the great job his rival had done.

"It was a match that I would have liked to have played the way I finished in the last games of the second set," lamented Jarry. But he acknowledged: "I'm happy with the whole week, the games and the progress since the first round. Let's continue on this path, which has me very well and I'm very happy with all the work."
