Fürstenfeldbruck - The Oskar von Miller Cross shines from the church tower - from Maundy Thursday to Easter Tuesday the cross will be visible in its contemporary form at St. Leonhardi Church.

Installation will take place on Thursday morning by the local supplier. “The modern cross will be a landmark in the city center during the Easter holidays. The lighting on the cross switches on every day at dusk,” says Benjamin Müller, head of the network construction department at Stadtwerke Fürstenfeldbruck, explaining the process. “Then 133 LED lamps burn and make the cross shimmer in red light.”

The Oskar von Miller Cross

On March 30, 1893, Maundy Thursday, a cross decorated with 120 electric lights shone from the gable of St. Leonhardi Church for the first time. The cross was a donation from honorary citizen Oskar von Miller. Since then - until a few years ago - it shone every year at Easter from the church tower of St. Leonhardi Church in Fürstenfeldbruck. Due to technical defects, the original cross could no longer be shown. As a permanent loan from the municipal utilities, it is now in the city museum and can be viewed there at certain exhibitions.
