Olching is one of the municipalities that is fighting the plague of crows. The animals have already been successfully driven out of the populated area. That's how it seemed.

Olching – However, they seem to feel comfortable there and have returned. Building authority manager Markus Brunnhuber reported this at the city council meeting.

“Over the weekend, around 40 or 50 nests appeared on Toni-März-Straße in a flash,” said Brunnhuber. That's a lot of them. They were removed from the building yard. Brunnhuber further explained that the budget of 30,000 euros for the falconer was already half full.

Massively affected

Olching, along with other municipalities such as Gernlinden, Gröbenzell and Puchheim, is massively affected by the problem. Noise and dirt became prevalent in residential areas. Farmers also complained about their fields being plundered by the protected animals.

For a short time, people in Olching hoped to receive a permit to shoot them. But that's off the table. So the deterrence measures remain together with the surrounding communities. Nests are removed and a falconer is on duty. This should all be done in a concerted effort so that crows are not driven from one place to the next as in the past.
