A 19-year-old is said to have killed his parents and brother with a knife. The police were on the scene the day before the violence.

Hohentengen - Just one day before the knife attack that left three dead, the police were at the family's home in the Waldshut district to settle a dispute. The police and public prosecutor's office announced this together on Thursday in Waldshut-Tiengen without further details. The 19-year-old suspect, who is in custody, has now testified. “The accused has not yet been convicted,” the investigators reported.

There are no indications that drugs were involved. The suspect, who has a German and Italian passport, is accused of attacking and killing his parents and his 34-year-old brother with a knife on Tuesday evening in Hohentengen on the High Rhine in the far south of Germany.

The suspect's sister suffered serious stab and cut injuries in the attack, but these are not life-threatening, investigators said. For reasons of privacy protection, the public prosecutor's office did not provide any detailed information about the course of the crime or the background to it. The suspect's motives are also still unclear.

Meanwhile, the community in Baden-Württemberg offered citizens help to deal with the shock after the bloody attack. “We are ready for support,” said Mayor Jürgen Wiener when asked. There is great concern in the community on the border with Switzerland with around 4,000 people. It will take time to overcome the shock, said the CDU local politician.

The investigators did not comment in detail about the location of the incident. On Wednesday they only spoke of an “eastern district community in the Waldshut district”. According to dpa information, the bloody act occurred in the Lienheim district of Hohentengen.

The family lived in an apartment building. According to investigators, the suspect's parents, aged 58 and 61, died at the scene. The suspect's 34-year-old brother died in hospital as a result of his injuries. The sister was taken to a clinic in a rescue helicopter and was treated there. dpa
