A particularly unusual Soviet tank is spotted in the Ukraine War. This is a relic of the elites. A video shows its supposed destruction.
Moscow – At first glance, it is another ordinary Soviet tank spotted by an FPV drone. However, upon closer inspection, the expert realizes that this is a very special tank. The S-Class of Russian tanks, so to speak. The “Ladoga” tank was intended to provide protection and mobility for the Soviet elite in the event of a nuclear attack or failure.
Doomsday tanks for nuclear emergencies – Putin mobilizes all reserves for the Ukraine war
Now one of these tanks has apparently been spotted on the battlefield around Ukraine - and destroyed. The FPV drone footage shows the special vehicle until the drone hits. This “Doomsday” tank is airtight, has its own oxygen tank, is thickly armored and has no turret. The interior of the vehicle is almost luxuriously furnished for a piece of war equipment. According to
Forbes
, only four to five of these special war vehicles were built.

Luxury tanks with television and radio - since the start of the Ukraine war, the reserves have been rapidly emptying
As a mobile command center in the event of a “doomsday” scenario, the tank also has a built-in television with a camera for communication and numerous radios. From there, the Soviet leadership was supposed to command the troops and coordinate a counterattack while NATO nuclear bombs devastated the country. That's the logic behind the strange vehicle.
Some of these machines from the Cold War were already housed in Russian museums, and now Vladimir Putin is apparently even mobilizing these curiosities in view of the exorbitant wear and tear of tanks on the Ukrainian front. Satellite images reveal the status of the old Soviet tank camps. Russia's tank reserves are enormous, but only thanks to the rearmament during the Soviet era. And due to the war in Ukraine, supplies are rapidly depleting.
Putin is relying on quantity over quality to compensate for tank losses
So far, Russia has lost more than 3,000 tanks in the Ukraine war, as the
Reuters
news agency reports. And in order to continue to provide supplies, Putin also has to resort to old Soviet tanks. In addition to the rare Doomsday tank, numerous T-55s, the Soviet standard tank in the Cold War, have also been spotted at the front. Henry Boyd, a member of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), a British institute for international relations and strategic studies, gave his assessment of Russian tank attrition.

According to him, the Russian army would produce and modernize just enough tanks to compensate for the current losses in the Ukraine war. The majority of the replacement is reactivated material from the Soviet stockpile. “Moscow was able to trade quality for quantity by removing thousands of older tanks from storage at a rate that was at times up to 90 vehicles per month,” is how the expert assesses the situation.
