Federal Labor Minister Hubertus Heil wants to ignite the “job turbo” for Ukrainians. The job center is responsible for this on site. That starts the first job day in Peißenberg on March 27th.

Peißenberg

– In other countries, the rate of Ukrainian war refugees who work and thus earn their own living is significantly higher than in Germany. Because this is increasingly being criticized, Labor Minister Heil announced that he wanted to ignite the “job turbo”. Jan Riediger, head of the job center in the district, now had to find ways to implement the minister's promise.

“Job Day”: Regional companies are to be brought together with customers from job centers

The idea for “Job Day” was born. Companies from the region that are looking for workers and unskilled workers should be brought together with job center customers. Particular attention is paid to making the hurdles as low as possible for both sides. The idea was therefore to really only bring together company bosses and citizens' benefit recipients from a specific region in order to avoid long distances from the outset.

The first event will also be a test balloon to check whether the concept can also be successfully applied in other cities and communities in the district.

Registration numbers for the first “job day” are encouraging

Things are looking very good so far, said Riediger in an interview with the local newspaper yesterday. With his predecessor in office, Peißenberg's mayor Frank Zellner, he had an open door. And the registration numbers for the first “Job Day,” which is scheduled to take place on March 27th from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Peißenberg Tiefstollenhalle, are “very encouraging.” A total of 13 companies from very different areas have registered - car dealerships, craftsmen, trading companies, restaurants, solar system builders, fitness studios and cleaning companies. The job center selected a total of 110 motivated customers who were invited to “Job Day”.

The plan is to form small groups of eight to ten applicants, who will then be led to the standing tables of the respective companies for 15 to 20 minutes each, Riediger continued. There the companies should briefly introduce themselves and the jobs that are on offer. Afterwards, company bosses and job center customers should talk to each other and ideally agree on fixed dates for trial work, says Riediger. This is the difference to “normal” job fairs, where visitors can go to individual stands or not, where there are often few concrete results.

No skilled workers, but urgently needed helpers

The job day is less about finding trained specialists and more about finding career changers who can be used as helpers. How well this can work was already discussed in the local newspaper. Two Ukrainians have been working as assistants at Solarzentrum Oberland GmbH for several months now. You have now become well established in the company, says Riediger.

The job center is now trying to get Ukrainians into employment much earlier than before. As soon as the first basic knowledge of German has been acquired, the refugees should go to work. Experience shows that you learn the language quickly at work in order to be able to communicate with your colleagues. Nevertheless, tomorrow's event in Peißenberg is not only for the Ukrainians, but for all motivated customers of the job center.
