Accused of complicity and financing a “genocide” by the Urgence Palestine association while the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza continues, the president (LR) of the Île-de-France region announced this Friday in a press release press file a complaint “for defamation and endangering the lives of others”.

The elected official also recalls that “the Île-de-France region voted in November 2023 for two emergency humanitarian aid intended for civilian populations victims of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict: one for the Israeli victims of October 7, one for the populations Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.

Nearly a million euros in aid

In total, 500,000 euros in subsidies were thus granted "to provide the first emergency and basic needs for the Israeli civilian populations hit by the Hamas terrorist attack of October 7 through the NGOs Maguen David Adom and Latet, and 250,000 euros for the Palestinian civilian populations bombed in the Gaza Strip via the NGOs Acted and Red Cross,” indicates the community. “To this was added additional aid of 100,000 euros to UNICEF for the benefit of Palestinian children. »

In its press release, the region insists on the fact “that contrary to the

relayed on social networks by left and far-left activists, no euro of aid from the region has gone to financing the army Israeli, which the Latet association confirmed. The latter notably provides adapted basic necessities kits consisting of foodstuffs and hygiene products.

And the community insists: “The vocation of the region's aid is purely humanitarian, it goes exclusively to supporting the civilian populations victims of the war, both Israeli and Palestinian. »

“Political manipulation”

Valérie Pécresse condemns the methods of the Urgence Palestine association by accusing it through posters posted in Paris of being “complicit in the genocide in Gaza”. “She knowingly distorts the facts for the purposes of political manipulation and destabilization. In a context of high Islamist terrorist threat, the association takes the risk of putting a target on the back of the regional president by relaying fake news without any basis,” supports the region. Valérie Pécresse therefore asks the courts that such practices be “severely sanctioned”.
