Gianluigi Giovetti, 102 years old, has been recognized as an 'expert of the subject' in Pharmaceutical Chemistry by the university. The University of Modena and Reggio Emilia was the promoter with a ceremony that took place via an online connection.
Giovetti, born in Modena in 1922, graduated in pure chemistry from Modena University in 1947, Unimore reports. Today's recognition is "an unexpected consequence of the request to take into consideration the material relating to an exam that was not recognized at the time", explains Giovetti.
"The Department of Life Sciences unanimously and with great satisfaction granted the title of expert in pharmaceutical chemistry to Dr. Giovetti who - explains Professor Lorena Rebecchi, director of the department, who took part in the ceremony together with her colleague Maria Paola Costi, professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry - over the course of her long life she has cultivated her interest in pharmaceutical chemistry with dedication, enthusiasm and competence".
The recipient of the recognition was thrilled and grateful: "I was very pleased - adds Giovetti - The certificate, which will be displayed in the room of the retirement home where I am hosted, crowns my work done in all the years spent at the faculty of Pharmacy in Modena. I am truly honored."
