The preliminary investigation for rape and sexual assault opened against Jean Lassalle was dismissed, due to an
“insufficiently characterized offense”
, indicates the Bordeaux prosecutor's office.
“The investigations did not make it possible to establish the existence of a criminal offense,”
specifies the prosecution in Le Figaro, confirming information from France Bleu Béarn Bigorre.
This investigation was opened on May 3, 2023 for facts which allegedly took place in 2010. A woman, now aged 45, had accused the Béarnais man of having raped her in a hotel in Bordeaux.
Head of the European list
Jean Lassalle was then deputy for Pyrénées-Atlantiques and MoDem candidate for the regional elections in Aquitaine. The former mayor of Lourdios-Ichère (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) proclaimed his innocence.
After giving up on running for the 2022 legislative elections, Jean Lassalle announced that he would lead the “Rural Alliance” list in the European elections, alongside the head of the hunters' federation Willy Schraen.
