“He was massacred, it’s barbarism”: the shock of those close to Philippe, 22, beaten to death in Grande-Synthe

Olivier, a cousin of Philippe. This 22-year-old young man was beaten to death on the night of April 15 to 16 in a parking lot behind the Carrefour Contact store in Grande-Synthe (North). That evening, he was leaving a friend's house to return home.

The journey, which takes barely five minutes on foot, should have gone smoothly. However, Philippe was literally massacred on the way back. In an unbearable video filmed by a woman, Philippe lies on the ground in his underwear, unconscious. His face, covered in blood, is distorted by the blows.

“But why did he get hit like that?”

, asks the one filming in tears. His attackers, who were at least three, stole his cell phone and his bag before fleeing.
