– That hurts and the word “stomach ache” was often used at the meeting of the Seefeld municipal council on Tuesday evening: The municipality of Seefeld will probably have to take out a loan of 7.150 million euros for the first time in more than 20 years, and it can also do so The administrative budget (ongoing costs) cannot be balanced and must be covered by reserves from the capital budget for investments amounting to 455,350 euros. Borrowing has often been discussed in recent years, but the community has always missed it. That's why Mayor Klaus Kögel remained positive in his reflection on the meeting: “It's a bit like reading a crystal ball. It remains to be seen whether this will actually happen.” There may already be an increase in trade tax that has not yet been planned. But: “There are two or three difficult years ahead of us.”

Apart from that, the budget was passed with three votes against from the FWG. Its total volume is 37,770,880 euros (2023: 32,048,400). Chamberlain Ingo Spengler estimated trade tax revenue in his budget at 10 million euros, up from 13,277 million in 2023. Income tax is expected to be 7.3 million euros in 2024 (2023: 7.2 million euros). Due to previous heavier years, the district levy increases to 9.6 million euros (2023: 8.6 million euros).

In their comments on the budget, which had previously been discussed in non-public meetings and in the parliamentary groups, the councilors thanked the administration for its commitment. Prof. Martin Dameris (SPD) had no problem with borrowing, “if we use the money to strengthen the infrastructure – that benefits everyone.” Dr. Gasser Oswald (FDP) found it more difficult: “We have a structural problem,” he said. Businesses need to be established and structures need to be slimmed down. “It would be better to reject the budget as a signal.” The community is at a crossroads. Josef Wastian (FWG) spoke of a “very dramatic situation”. The fact that the municipality has to postpone renovations, for example with the day water canals, “falls on our feet”. The municipality must finally take action on the commercial areas on Jahnweg and Oberfeld. Thomas Zimmermann (Greens/BI) spoke of an unsurprising cut that “we should take as a wake-up call”. The community needs to step up its game when it comes to income, but he values the issue of expenses more highly. Christian Wagner (BVS) appealed to keep businesses local by creating commercial space. Richard Dreyer (CSU) said the community was on the right track and was making an important contribution by building housing. Ortwin Gentz (Greens/BI) warned that existing commercial areas should be preserved instead of designating new ones: “Preservation before new development, because it’s quicker.”

Christian Ruf's (FWG) request to publish the budget on the website will not be fulfilled. “This speaks against the data protection regulation,” said chamberlain Spengler. However, the documents can be viewed at any time in the administration.
