According to investigation sources, around 10:30 a.m. this Wednesday, a neighbor of the same building where both women lived—an off-duty local police officer from a neighboring town—heard a woman asking for help as he passed by. of the door. When talking to her about her, he told her that she was tied with zip ties and at that time she was alone in her home. The agent immediately called the Santa Coloma Local Police and several patrol cars went to the scene. The Firefighters also attended and, unable to open the main door, had to rappel down through an open sky and access through an interior door. Once inside, the Firefighters opened the door to the agents, who confirmed the suspicions and found a woman lying on a mattress with her hands tied with zip ties and her feet with a type of scarf.
Members of the Medical Emergency System (SEM) treated the victim in the ambulance and later transferred her to the Santa Caterina Hospital in Salt, with symptoms of malnutrition and dehydration.
The Mossos began the search for the suspect and located her precisely in the same hospital center where the youngest of her four children, aged 15 years and 4 months, had gone for treatment. The woman, 34 years old, of Spanish nationality and with various backgrounds, was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of illegal detention, injuries, theft - because she took her cell phone and credit cards -, threats and humiliating and degrading treatment. Their four children were initially placed under the guardianship of the General Directorate of Care for Children and Adolescents (DGAIA), which has opened a file for preventive neglect, pending the result of the study carried out by the technical team on the family situation. of the minors.
For their part, the Mossos are investigating the conditions under which the detainee lived with the victim, who had a social rental in an apartment owned by the Catalan Habitat Agency. According to sources from the Igualtat i Feminismes department "it was not a residential resource of the network against sexist violence but rather a private social rental apartment for people at risk of social exclusion." They are also trying to find out what would have led the detainee to tie up the victim.
