In central France, we had to swap the shirt for a down jacket this Thursday. Indeed, while a new record for early heat was broken on Saturday, snow has just returned to France. To their great surprise, in the middle of April the inhabitants of Puy-de-Dôme rediscovered their roofs, bell towers and fields covered in winter whiteness.
This reappearance of a thin white coat in the landscape is all the more surprising as these snowfalls have affected the reliefs from 500m. They appeared in particular in the small town of Servant, whose altitude is between 333 and 724m.
According to
La Chaîne Météo*
, the return of cold and snow to France can be explained by the arrival of a mass of cold air of polar origin from Northern Europe. It causes, beyond these snowfalls, temperature anomalies. And this cold should last until the end of April.
