in Rome the Holy Trinity of the Pilgrims is reborn thanks to the light

2024-04-18T22:31:34.530Z

Highlights: The facade of the Santissima Trinità dei Pellegrini church in Rome will be illuminated for the first time. In October, the interior of the church will also be "illuminated" by a new work by the "baroque" artist Philippe Casanova. The project represents "the union between valorisation, cultural rediscovery, and the celebration of the Jubilee," says the president of the Culture Commission, Federico Mollicone. It is a new "exploitation format that will combine innovation with traditional pictorial art," says the head of the Urban Vision Group, Civita Mostre e e Musei, who is behind the project. The restoration of the facade is the first part of a larger project to restore the church to its full splendor. The second part of the project is the projection of the image of the baroque artist's work Peregrinatio onto the vault of the building.

It will be the light that will reveal an almost hidden treasure of Rome but fundamental for the history of the city, for that of art and for that of spirituality: the church of the Santissima Trinità dei Pellegrini, born at the behest of the Archconfraternity of Pilgrims and Convalescents founded in of the 16th century by S. Filippo Neri in favor of the poor and the sick and above all to welcome and assist pilgrims in Rome.

Located in the very heart of the historic center of Rome, a few meters from Palazzo Farnese and Ponte Sisto and Via Giulia, the church was located along the route of the Tour of the Seven Churches. And precisely in view of the Jubilee, the church will be at the center of new enhancement projects, some of which are inaugurated today. This evening the facade of the church will be illuminated for the first time, thanks to the new project curated by the Special Superintendence of Rome: the new lighting is an integral part of the restoration of the church facade, which has just concluded. The two interventions "are the first pieces of a larger work, which will also affect the interior of the building, to restore it in its entirety, to its splendor" announces Daniela Porro, Special Superintendent of Rome. But the project doesn't stop there.

In October, on the eve of the opening of the Holy Year, the interior of the church will also be not only restored, but also "illuminated" by a new work by the "baroque" artist Philippe Casanova, designed to fill the void of the concrete vault of the church. The project, produced by Urban Vision Group and conceived by Civita Mostre e Musei, is entitled Paradisus and is the projection of the image of Philippe Casanova's work Peregrinatio onto the vault of the church. It is a new "exploitation format that will combine innovation with traditional pictorial art, thanks to the artifice of light" says the president of the Chamber's Culture Commission, Federico Mollicone. In short, the whole project represents "the union between valorisation, cultural rediscovery and the celebration of the Jubilee".
