Marina Marzia Brambilla, vice-rector delegated to Teaching and Student Services, has been elected rector of the University of Milan.
She is the first woman to lead the university
, which turned 100 this year.
Brambilla received 1,651 preferences against 644 preferences for Luca Solari. The proclamation took place at the end of the counting of ballots in the university's main hall. "It took 100 years but we did it", the immediate comment of the new rector who will lead the university for the next 6 years.
Full Professor of German Language and Linguistics, Marina Marzia Brambilla has been working at the University since 2003. Over the years she has carried out - as stated in her CV - intense teaching activity and targeted research, combining these with a commitment to service to the University, resulting in numerous delegations and, in the six-year period 2018-2024, in the position of Vice-Rector delegated for the Planning and Organization of Student Services.
He is President of the University Language Center, SLAM, which he helped create. Responsible for numerous initiatives involving collaborations with institutional partners such as the Lombardy Region, the Municipality of Milan, the Education Office and the main Ministries, he is project leader of Spoke 1 "Urban regeneration" of the MUSA innovation ecosystem (PNRR), within which coordinates research and interaction activities with the territory in a project that looks at urban evolutions, such as MIND and Città Studi. She served as Commissioner for National Scientific Licensing and was an evaluator of numerous projects and research, making a solid contribution to the development of German linguistics.

The mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, sent his "congratulations" via social media to Marina Brambilla, elected as the new rector of the University of Milan, "the first woman to lead the university in 100 years of history". "I will meet her soon - she explained - to talk about the many projects we will work on together".
