Marina Marzia Brambilla, vice-rector delegated to Teaching and Student Services, has been elected rector of the University of Milan. She is the first woman to lead the university, which turned 100 this year.
Brambilla received 1,651 preferences against 644 preferences for Luca Solari. The proclamation took place after the counting of ballots in the university's main hall.
"It took 100 years but we did it", the hot comment of the new rector who will lead the university for the next 6 years.
