What is true for New York, London and Berlin is also true for Bat Yam: in the dynamic and bustling industrial area hides a special loft apartment that is used not only for living but also as a fashion boutique for men's clothing and as a fashion photography studio - an optimal space for its new owner where he lives, creates and runs his business .
"Around the world this is a real trend and many young people, who want to enjoy comfort and savings, combine the functions of living and employment in a large and open space, which is often located in the heart of industrial and commercial complexes," explains interior designer Liyad Yosef Shamon about the project.
"The new owners purchased the dusty parts warehouse in the industrial area of Bat Yam, the city where he grew up, and together we created a complex that, beyond being functional and accurate to his needs, also tells the story of the entire area. The idea was to create an atmosphere, to tell a story non-verbally, and the special experience It starts already at the front of the street, which is full of garages and industrial buildings. It continues all the way up the staircase and intensifies at the entrance to the apartment, where the desired disconnection from the hustle and bustle outside is created, and then you are also exposed to the clean and pleasant vibes that pay a lot of respect to the area and the history of this space."
"We were both immediately struck by the industrial features of the place, in particular the concrete ceiling and floor, and we decided to leave the shell almost as it was originally - all we did was paint the ceiling a dramatic dark shade, arrange the system according to the new layout, and apply a layer of sealer to the floor that preserves The used and industrialized look at the same time is compared to it by a slightly cleaner and polished look, befitting the space in which you live and walk."
"We gave a lot of thought to the definition of the functions, after all, this is a space that is used for living, for shooting fashion productions and also as a boutique for men's clothes. It was important for us to check that the smell of cooking would not stick to the clothes or that random customers visiting the place would be exposed in a very controlled way to the private areas. Practice is an important value in this apartment and we acted To create a dynamic space that enjoys a precise and correct flow, which we wrapped in an urban, slightly rough and masculine
look The walls as they are - we did not make any repairs to them and only painted them in a light shade to create a fresher look."
"Next to the display area is also the work desk: that's where the cash register is located and that's where the owner edits the photographs of the fashion productions, which he takes on a white and smooth wall that we created for the interest in the living room. In general, the living room area is not ordinary - it is relatively neutral, cozy and comfortable, great for lying down and entertaining of friends, and at the same time it is very easy to change its configuration when it is necessary to turn it into a work space. For example, we chose not to install a permanent TV screen that would take up wall space, and in its place we designed an overhead projector that is not visible to the eye."
The kitchen is open and very precise for the needs of a bachelor who doesn't often cook, and it is also an example of the use we made throughout this apartment of not necessarily expensive materials, certainly not 'fancy', which fit the lofty-industrial atmosphere we wanted to create. We created two parallel and comfortable units. We covered the wall with wood panels painted with a concrete effect and we made the kitchen furniture from walnut wood veneer. Parallel to it is the spacious island that we created from Caesar stone slabs, where the stove and sink were designed. In the continuation, there is a dining table that consists of metal legs and a walnut wood plate, and around it we placed two types of chairs, some deep and comfortable for sitting and eating, and some with iron and wood stools, just like at a bar."
