The grill container
consists of an inner and outer shell. The inner shell reflects the heat upwards, the outer shell remains cool. This means that the grill can be easily moved and touched while grilling.
The charcoal
goes into a separate container in the middle of the grill. A battery-operated fan ensures a supply of fresh air and therefore particularly clean, low-smoke combustion. The smoke aroma is transported to the grilled food, but it does not smoke.

In Germany there is no nationwide regulation for grilling on the balcony with a charcoal grill. But the smoke causes disputes and many a lawsuit every year.
In general, however, when grilling on the balcony, consideration must be given to the neighbors and the general welfare must not be impaired.
That means:
Smoke development
: Heavy smoke that drifts into neighbors' apartments can be seen as a nuisance. Repeated complaints may result in requests to cease and desist or, in extreme cases, even legal action.
Fire protection
: There is an increased risk of fire when using charcoal grills. It must be ensured that the grill is stable and that there is sufficient distance from combustible materials.
House rules and rental agreement
: The house rules or rental agreement often contain specific regulations for grilling. Some landlords or residential complexes explicitly prohibit grilling with open fires, including charcoal grills, on balconies.
Local customs and rest times
: Even if grilling on the balcony is permitted, general rest times and local practices should be respected. Noise and smells that could be perceived as disturbing should be avoided.
To be on the safe side, it is advisable to check the house rules and, if necessary, obtain the consent of the neighbors before grilling on the balcony with a charcoal grill.
