Highlights: Around 60 people from Tölz came to the citizens' meeting on Wednesday evening in the Kurhaus to find out more. Town hall boss Ingo Mehner summarized many important events in the city in his annual report. One topic concerned energy and sustainability: "There is really music coming into the local heating supply at the moment," explained Mehner. The "Northern Bypass Mega Project" is a lot of money that will be built into the ground and will also involve some construction sites. 'The road construction should actually start next year,' said Mehner. The Moralt Works, the "Tölzer Campus" and the Hindenburgstrasse are three other major projects that concern the'district town' of Bad Tlz. Structured in the usual manner, town hall boss Ingo Mehner summarized many important events in the city in his annual report and summarized them again under various topics

Bad Tölz - Around 60 people from Tölz came to the citizens' meeting on Wednesday evening in the Kurhaus to find out more. One topic concerned energy and sustainability: “There is really music coming into the local heating supply at the moment,” explained Mehner.

This requires cables, and these are also the reason for the current number of construction sites, spread across several streets in the district town. In order to ensure thermal performance in Bad Tölz, a new energy center is being built at the fire station. “We don’t get something like this for free; we are involved with around 30 million euros.”

“Mega projects” in the district town of Bad Tölz

The “Northern Bypass Mega Project” is a lot of money that will be built into the ground and will also involve some construction sites, but will then provide relief for inner-city road traffic, emphasized Mehner: “The road construction should actually start next year.” And when the north span is finished, “we will have new space available on General Patton Street, where new living space can be created on city property.”

Moralt-Werke, “Tölzer Campus” and development on Hindenburgstrasse in Bad Tölz

Three other major projects concern the Moralt Works, the “Tölzer Campus” and Hindenburgstrasse. In the latter case, Mehner regrets the closure of the post office there at the end of June, but would like to focus on the future. “We are very happy that the current owner thinks entrepreneurially and wants to invest.” As is well known, areas for retail, restaurants and a food supplier as well as an underground car park and rooftop bar are to be built on Hindenburgstrasse. And on the 6.5 hectares of the Moralt Works, living space for around 1,000 people is being planned together with the owner.

Citizens' questions about the old Tölz train station building and flowering meadows in the city

After Mehner's review and outlook, citizens' concerns were answered. Among other things, the question was raised about the future of the station building, which some describe as an “eyesore.” Mehner said: “That annoys us all. We as a city would buy it immediately.” However, the owner turned down the offer several times. “So we can’t renovate it.”

The desire for more flowering meadows in the city was also expressed. “We have to keep it within financial limits,” says Mehner. Since these also have to be maintained, “we can’t do them everywhere,” added Christian Fürstberger from the city building department.

Bad Tölz has 7,000 trees - the inspector is responsible for safety and care

The question also arose as to why supposedly “healthy trees” were cut down. Mehner vehemently rejected this: A specialist is responsible for the care of the around 7,000 registered inner-city trees and checks them regularly. If clearing occurs, it is because the tree is sick or the crown or branches are broken, emphasized Fürstberger. “If the inspector releases them, there are technical reasons for doing so.”
