Taufkirchen

– The Taufkirchener Waldbad opens the bathing season on Saturday, April 27th. This year there are two more highlights in the family pool: the Alpine Club's bouldering hall, which is adjacent to the forest pool, will open at the end of May at the latest and will provide additional sports options for bathers. And the Taufkirchen beach volleyball players have expanded their facility with floodlights so that they can also play and play in the evenings.

“The color of the water is right, we’ll do better when it comes to the weather,” promised Mayor Stefan Haberl at a press conference on site. The Taufkirchen forest pool is not only a flagship for the community, but also a magnet for many foreign visitors, he said happily and emphasized: “Even if we cannot cover our costs, we can still afford the forest pool. It is very important for the citizens’ quality of life.”

Swimming master Ralf Alscher and his team of 15 ensure that the swimming pool runs smoothly, including two other swimming masters, lifeguards, cashiers and cleaning staff. Not to be forgotten are the volunteer rescue workers from the DLRG, who ensure safety and also offer swimming courses.

The two forest pool speakers Barbara Leiner and Anneliese Mayer also repeatedly contribute ideas and suggestions for improvement. “We also look at the costs and see where there are savings opportunities,” says Mayer. Which is not that easy, as the increased heating costs show, for example. But she praised the good cooperation with everyone, “the Waldbad guests also feel that we all want to create the best and most beautiful for the Waldbad and for them.”

New are another 15 loungers with the logo of the municipal works that sponsored them, ten double loungers made of wood and six parasols. The old ones broke in a storm, says Alscher. There will also be an additional toilet in the bouldering hall for mothers with small children. In addition, the doors to the toilets in the machine hall are gradually being replaced and, “when there is a lot going on,” they are now opened.

The admission prices have remained the same, as have the opening times from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The non-swimmer pool will be the first to reopen and will likely remain open until the end of the summer holidays. The lifeguard wants to have it warmed to a pleasant 25 degrees by April 27th. The swimmer's pool will be opened later and closed earlier due to the high heating costs. “The bathers understand this,” says Mayer.

Two cashiers will be working on the first two days because a lot of season and 12-ticket tickets are being purchased, according to the swimming master. But only he and a supervisor were in the outdoor pool because the visit was still manageable.

Sophia Mühlhuber has been responsible for the forest pool in the town hall since March. It is the link between Waldbad employees, speakers and the administration. She can boast good numbers. The two advance sales campaigns went very well, she says. Season tickets were sold for 9,100 euros at Easter and even for 45,000 euros at Christmas.

Last year, 95,574 guests visited the outdoor pool; the busiest day was July 9th with 3,592 guests. The income was almost 244,000 euros. This year, 65,000 euros have been budgeted for the forest pool: 25,000 euros of this for the beach volleyball field, 10,000 euros for the railing on the diving board and 6,000 euros each for a gate on the technical room and one on the south side of the fence.

The Alpine Club would like to officially inaugurate the bouldering hall with a summer party on July 6th. At the same time, tree climbing demonstrations could take place with Michael Attensberger, better known to many as “Baumholzmichl”. The DAV also wants to install a digital access system with an online card shop as soon as possible. The entrance fees have remained the same, although the climbing area has tripled. Anyone who would like to try climbing can do so free of charge in a small area on the Waldbad side.

The beach volleyball players, like the Alpine club, want to finish the remaining work as soon as possible. After that, they are planning an all-day four-person recreational tournament on June 29th at the opening, where anyone can participate. And the ED Beach tour is scheduled for July 6th. Teams from Oberding, St. Wolfgang, Wartenberg and Taufkirchen would compete here. “We are organizing a small beach series that always takes place somewhere else.” All guests can use the playing field.
