Tigres' Argentine goalkeeper
Nahuel
Guzmán
He was suspended 11 games and fined for using a laser beam from the stands with the aim of dazzling his compatriot
Esteban Andrada
, goalkeeper of archrival Monterrey, during a Mexican league match last weekend. A very severe and logical punishment for the
former Newell's
. Be careful, his victim was also punished for his behavior on social networks.
Guzmán, 38, has been injured since March, when he underwent surgery on his right knee. But on Saturday, he pointed the laser from the visiting team's box at the BBVA stadium in
Monterrey
in a match for the 15th round of the Clausura tournament.
This is the first time in the history of Mexican soccer that a player has been sanctioned for such an act.
The 2014 Apertura final between América and Tigres had been momentarily interrupted because a fan used the laser to bother the players.
“I celebrate the work of the Disciplinary Commission that determined unprecedented sanctions for the player and the clubs that will be a before and after because players and managers will think twice before allowing ourselves to be overcome by passion
,” said the president of
Liga MX
,
Mikel Arriola
.
In addition to the suspension matches and the fine,
Guzmán must do community work
.
In the Disciplinary Commission we assume our responsibility to provide sporting justice to build football based on the Fair Play code. That is why we make public the sanctions that we apply after what happened in the Regiomontano Classic.

There is no date for Guzmán to play again, in view of his injury, but the 11 games exclude him from the remainder of the Clausura, which has two dates missing from the regular calendar and six more in case Tigres reaches the final.
The sports president of Monterrey, Antonio Noriega, said that he and the match commissioner had to go to the box to remove the laser from the player, who initially refused to hand it over, but later agreed.
In addition to the sanctions for Guzmán,
Tigres was fined an undisclosed amount
, following the behavior of its fans and
a publication of images that were considered inappropriate on social networks
. In these videos you can see how a Tigres fan urinates in a container and then throws the contents on Rayados fans.

Not only Tigres and Guzmán were penalized.
Andrada was also fined for a post on his Instagram account in which he referred to Guzmán in homophobic terms.
In addition,
Monterrey will also have to pay a fine for inappropriate behavior by its fans
. In another video that went viral, a Rayados fan can be seen throwing a liquid at French forward
André-Pierre Gignac
and then making an obscene sign at him.
“In the history of Mexican soccer we have lived moments full of pride and others in which we questioned how to rebuild the path,” said Arriola. “In sports, what we saw on the field represents the football we want, but off the field, nothing that was experienced has to do with the values of the league.”
Without revealing the names or the teams they supported, the Disciplinary Commission said that it withdrew the identification credentials of two fans who attended the match and reported that none of them will be able to enter Liga MX matches for life, according to with Arriola.
“In the hope that situations such as those raised are not repeated, both clubs were warned about the future conduct of their players, members of the coaching staff, managers and fans in general,” the organization indicated. “In the event that these types of actions are committed again, the Disciplinary Commission may impose more severe sanctions.”
