Conspicuous young people cause trouble and problems in Poing. The youth center is currently closed due to several incidents, and the parking garage has already suffered nine damages due to vandalism this year. The marketplace is also in focus.
Poing - Some young people who are known to the police and who "occupy" the youth center, displace the regular audience there and attack the staff, numerous vandalism damages in the neighboring parking garage as well as citizens who have "a bad feeling" in the evenings and at night when they walk over the nearby Go to the market square because there are youth groups there - hotspots have developed in Poing on the north side of the S-Bahn station. Among other things, the result is that the youth center is closed until further notice. Mayor Thomas Stark informed the approximately 100 visitors about this at the citizens' meeting on Thursday evening in the auditorium of the Anni Pickert School.
Poing: Provocations and thefts in the youth center
According to Stark, the first problems arose in the youth center (JuZ) in the second half of 2023, due to damage to property and violations of the house rules. “There were provocations, thefts and oppositional behavior towards the employees,” said the mayor. Preventive deployment of the police and educational work by JuZ employees were without great success. After the JuZ was broken into in February and a Playstation was stolen, the JuZ was closed. In addition, the municipality, as the owner of the house, has issued bans on entering and entering the house.
Damage to the parking garage amounting to almost 10,000 euros
According to Stark, there have already been nine cases of vandalism in the neighboring park-and-ride building this year, with a total loss of around 9,800 euros. In this context, the mayor announced that complete video surveillance of the building would be examined. So far, some areas have been equipped with video cameras. The lighting in the P&R building should also be increased.
Chief Police Officer Mithun Küffner, head of the Poing police station, reported that a separate task force on the subject of young people had been founded in the department. The police are focusing on the market square, where more and more youth groups meet.

Due to the incidents, the self-managed youth club planned by the municipality of Poing will not be implemented for the time being. The containers set up for this purpose at the Volksfestplatz will remain closed, Mayor Thomas Stark announced. Because there is concern that this meeting will be taken over by those young people who are known to the police.
According to Stark, the JuZ is scheduled to reopen in May. With a new concept, new structure and aimed at a different target group. The interior and exterior areas will also be redesigned. There will also be close cooperation with the police and preventative measures.
Regarding the increased vandalism, Stark said that areas such as the P&R building, market square and sports center are patrolled by volunteer security guards to prevent vandalism.
