++ Confcommercio raises GDP estimates for the first quarter to +0.3%

Confcommercio revises its estimates for the Italian economy upwards. According to the association's latest economic data, in the first quarter of 2024 GDP recorded growth of 0.3% compared to the last three months of 2023 (+0.1% the previous estimate) and of 0.5% compared to the first quarter of last year (+0.3% previous estimate). Achieving annual objectives of around 1% "remains difficult, but by no means impossible", comments Confcommercio which highlights in particular the "very good, indeed exceptional" feedback on tourist presences: in February +12.3% overall compared to 2023 and, therefore, an all-time record.
