The tragedy occurred a week ago, Saturday April 13, in a shopping center in Sydney, Australia. A man, armed with a knife, stabbed several people and killed six of them. Before being neutralized by a police officer present on site, the man was slowed down in his path by two French nationals: Damien Guerot and Silas Despreaux. The two men gave their first interview to French television in “C l’hebdo”.
“We all have this question: if we witnessed an attack, would we have the courage that you had?”
Aurélie Casse initially declared before expanding on her remarks (or going deeper, depending on your point of view).
“I can still see that you have a physical constitution that is different from mine... You are very athletic...”
, she said, a half-smile on her lips and an embarrassed look.
“You are the archetypal hero”
And to justify herself in the face of the sneers from the columnists, Aurélie Casse continued:
“no, but it’s true, we have the impression that you are the archetype of the hero. Finally, when we see you..."
. The presenter finally decided not to beat around the bush and stated without additional detour:
“It was my way of saying that I found you beautiful”
. It was enough to provoke bursts of laughter on the France 5 set.
On the other side of the world, Damien Guerot and Silas Despreaux were amused by the situation and smiled, visibly flattered and embarrassed by the compliment.
“Thank you
,” we could read on the lips of one of them. The host then tried to regain her seriousness by in turn thanking the two French nationals.
“And thank you in this gloomy current situation, in these moments when we feel like we no longer have any points of reference, having heroes does us a lot of good. Isn’t that Hugo Micheron?”
, she turned, as if to have the support of another of the guests.
