After rising to 1.2% in March, inflation is expected to slow to 1.0% in April. This is Confcommercio's forecast, according to which food prices are confirmed to be further cooling, progressively closer to the general price trend.
"The persistence of inflation at the values that our economy had experienced in the years preceding the flare-up recorded between the end of 2021 and the last months of 2022, especially for goods purchased more frequently, is one of the conditions for pushing families to make moderate improvements on the of demand - explains Confcommercio - A trend which could also be favored by the continuation of weakly positive employment dynamics and by the income recoveries generated by contract renewals".
In March 2024 the Confcommercio consumption indicator has already highlighted a growth of 0.4% compared to the same month of 2023.
