The real estate tycoon of Palestinian descent, Mohammed Hadid, the father of the models Bella and Gigi Hadid, recently attacked Democratic Congressman Jimmy Torres with homophobic and racist messages for his support for Israel. "You are worse than the rats in the sewers of New York," he wrote. Hadid to Torres in a private message on Instagram, "They have a bigger brain than yours. You can get a job as a selector at a gay bar." Hadid also wrote to him: "You are a white slave."
Another of Hadid's pearls: "Make sure you dress like the Ku Klux Klan, to hide your ugly gray face. He accused Torres of serving as a spokesperson for Israel and AIPAC, and that he expects to receive $500,000 from them as a donation to his campaign for the next term. Hadid is known to have recently attacked Israel and compared it to Nazis. He called Biden a "Zionist criminal."
Torres, the first black member of Congress to openly state that he is gay, has not been charged. "Whether Hadid dehumanized me by saying I was worse than a rat, or whether he told me to hide my gray face and dress like the Ku Klux Klan, Hadid used every racial slur against me except for using the N-word itself."
Torres added: "The fact that Hadid feels so comfortable demonizing and dehumanizing me reveals a tragic truth about our politics: if you're not white and you're pro-Israel, you're considered easy prey for racists."
Torres visited Israel at the beginning of this month. In an interview with the Jerusalem Post, he said: "President Biden has given Israel the time it needs to win the war, and we must succeed," Torres said. "The ultimate goal of removing Hamas from power must be clear - because if Hamas remains in power, there will never be an end to the violence and the bloodshed. Hamas intends to murder every Jew in Israel until the destruction of the Jewish state itself. No country should be expected to coexist with a terrorist organization like Hamas.
