Moorenweis is facing big projects

2024-04-20T05:23:15.332Z

The Moorenweisers experienced a different kind of citizens' meeting in the fully occupied TSV hall: Rudi Keckeis and Christoph Gasteiger, who represented the sick town hall boss Joseph Schäffler, organized the evening as a double and with something new.

Moorenweis - Third Mayor Christoph Gasteiger introduced the employees in the town hall with a photo and areas of responsibility at the beginning of the citizens' meeting - that was well received. “There has never been an introduction like this at a citizens' meeting - great,” praised one citizen. Another thanked him for the “great presentation”. This should be made available online so that details can be read.

In fact, there was a lot of information that Vice Mayor Keckeis and Gasteiger presented in just under two hours. In addition to population and household numbers, projects were also discussed. This includes connecting the pond sewage treatment plants in Dünzelbach and Steinbach to the Moorenweis sewage treatment plant. That costs seven million euros. The local government has to pay half out of its own pocket. She is hoping for a subsidy for the rest.

Since wastewater disposal has to cover costs, citizens will face increasing fees, as Keckeis announced. 4.50 euros per cubic meter are conceivable. It is still unclear whether or in what proportion the costs will be passed on to fees and property owners.

Road construction

From mid-July, the Moorenweisers will face months of traffic. The ceiling reinforcement of state road 2054 between the eastern edge of the town and the junction to Grafrath is scheduled to take place by November, including the construction of a turning lane into the expanded commercial area. The route is diverted via the B471, Grafrath, Kottgeisering and Türkenfeld.

The topic of transport also took up a lot of space in the subsequent discussion. A resident of Römerstrasse described the frenzy observed there as “no longer acceptable”. The problem continues outside of town in the direction of Langwied, Purk and Grunertshofen, as Keckeis confirmed. A signature collection for a speed limit is underway, but controls will have to be carried out for the whole thing to be effective.

30 km/h?

Another citizen called for a speed limit of 30 km/h for Eismerszellerstrasse and Blumenstrasse in order to protect children and older pedestrians. Keckeis promised that the proposal would be submitted to the authorities. “However, it may be that the legal requirements for 30 km/h are not met.” The long-desired crossing aid with pressure traffic lights in front of the pharmacy is to be implemented next year.

The demolition of the old school still caused criticism. “This means that a unique opportunity to create a center for clubs has been missed,” said one citizen. Keckeis referred to poor building structure and inadequate fire protection. Another question concerned the fluctuating water pressure in part of Moorenweis and in Brandenberg. According to Keckeis, the problem is “known, but not yet finally solved”.
