In the midst of a storm and while the upper echelons of figure skating in France are affected by a scandal of sexual violence, Will Didier Gailhaguet have to leave his post as president of the Federation of Ice Sports? The question could be answered on Saturday. The leader has in fact decided to convene a federal council (with 31 members) which has the power to dismiss him. The Gailhaguet will still have to put the question on the agenda of this exceptional meeting. And for that, this question must gather the adhesion of at least 25% of the members of the federal council.

"It is an exceptional federal council which was convened by Didier Gailhaguet at the request of the president of the federal council", explained to AFP Me Guy Paris, the lawyer of the FFSG. The council should start at 9:00 am. "It is a point of information to know where we are in relation to the wishes of the Minister to fire him (Didier Gailhaguet, editor's note)," added Me Paris. Asked about the possibility of a possible dismissal of Didier Gailhaguet by the Federal Council, he replied: "It is not on the agenda but everything is open, there will be an explanation."

Gailhaguet has not ruled out leaving her post

Gailhaguet, head of French skating for more than twenty years almost without interruption, has been under pressure since Sports Minister Roxana Maracineanu called him to resign Monday following accusations of rape and sexual assault made by several ex-skaters, including former champion Sarah Abitbol, against different coaches between the late 1970s and the early 1990s.

At Maracineanu's call, he replied on Tuesday that he would await the conclusions of the administrative inquiry announced by the minister "before taking a decision". However, he conceded on Thursday for the first time that he would resign if "this is the only way to unblock" the situation.
