Thomas Dreßen is in the shape of his life. The German speed specialist took the next victory on the descent in Saalbach-Hinterglemm.

Saalbach-Hinterglemm - Thomas Dreßen from Mittenwald dominates the downhill scene in the Ski World Cup. Dreßen celebrated his second victory in a row in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Austria on Thursday.

A good ten days after his home success on the Kandahar in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Dreßen took his third win of the season in Saalbach-Hinterglemm.

Dreßen started with the number 13, got many blows in the upper part and lost time on the leading Beat Feuz.

Emotional return to the World Cup debut

From the middle sector, Dreßen showed his strengths in the glide passage, found an excellent line and finished seven hundredths ahead with a furious finish. The 26-year-old was stunned at the finish and was surprised by his next World Cup victory because of the loss of time in the upper part.

For Dreßen, it was a successful return to the place where he made his World Cup debut in 2015 as a 21-year-old.

On Friday the Alpine Skiing World Cup in Saalbach-Hinterglemm will continue with a Super-G. The two speed races were originally planned as Olympic tests in Yanqing. Because of the outbreak of the corona virus in China, however, they were moved to Saalbach at short notice.
