The European Football Association (UEFA) has announced that Manchester City, the Premier League champions, will be banned from participating in European competitions for two years.
Reuters quoted Al-Ittihad as saying in a statement today that the punishment was the result of "serious violations" of the financial rules of the Union by overestimating the revenues of its sponsorship in the reports of 2012 and 2016, adding that he fined the English club 30 million euros.
For his part, the club announced in a statement its intention to file an appeal against the punishment before the Sports Arbitration Court.
