Now it should work: finally win abroad. Admittedly, the TEV Miesbach was often very close in the gearing round between the Oberliga Süd and the ice hockey Bayernliga.
"We could certainly have scored more points abroad," admits TEV coach Peter Kathan. "But I don't think we have a weakness away from home."
The next opportunity to correct this impression is at EHC Klostersee tonight. The fact that the chances of the first three on foreign ice are not necessarily bad is due to two things in particular: First, Grafing's current situation is anything but desirable. With seven points, the EHC-Cracks are currently in last place on the tableau. "I think they have nothing to lose against us," says Kathan. “We have more at stake. So we have to give everything for it. "
Secondly, a very special circumstance could speak for a successful experience of the TEV: Two full fan buses make the short way to Grafing and should therefore ensure a loud block of guests.
"Our away games were not bad lately," Kathan assures. Finally, the district dwellers were extremely short against the two league teams Höchstadt and Sonthofen. The Kathan protégés fared similarly in the 0-2 defeat in second place in Passau. At the most recent bankruptcy in Waldkraiburg, the TEV lost after an extension and took a counter with them.
"We failed a bit because of ourselves," says the TEV coach. Once again, one reason for this may have been the tense personnel situation. In the meantime, eight regular players were missing. At least the recently caught Stephan Stiebinger and Thomas Schenkel will return to the team on Friday. "Nevertheless, we go there to win," says Kathan. Patience is required for the other failures. Andreas Nowak (lower body injury) and Josef Frank (elbow) should start training at least next week. Nevertheless, the Miesbachers want to do everything possible to finally get the first three points on foreign ice in the gear round.
