Hazard is back, and it changes everything

2020-02-15T19:26:42.030Z

Arrived this summer at Real Madrid, Eden Hazard lived a mixed first part of the season, before being sidelined due to an injury. Now that his return is announced, what will change the second arrival of the Belgian international?

While the Madrid club is on the throne of La Liga, and that the team is preparing to welcome on February 26 next Manchester City for the knockout stage of the Champions League, Zinedine Zidane spoke about the absent of its workforce during the first part of the season. The Blancos coach has told the press that Eden Hazard is about to make a comeback.

The Belgian international was the priority of the Merengues during the summer transfer window (just like Real Madrid was the priority of Hazard). He was supposed to be the cornerstone of Zinedine Zidane's project, for his return to the Madrid bench. But the first months of the Belgian in the Spanish championship did not go as he would have liked. His start to the season was mixed, with 1 goal and 4 assists in 13 matches in all competitions. And above all, last November 26 against PSG in the Champions League, the former Chelsea was injured after contact with his compatriot Thomas Meunier. After tests, the verdict: he suffers from a peri-malleolar contusion external to the right ankle (a malleolus microfracture). This injury will make him miss no less than 16 games in more than 2 months.

Now the hardest is behind him for the Belgian international, since he will make his comeback in the group to face Celta Vigo at the Bernabéu this Sunday. His coach announced it at a press conference: "We know what the team wins with Eden: it wins a very great player. The time has come for him to return to the team, he trains with us and feels good. He hasn't played for three months, but physically he's ready to play with us. Tomorrow he will be with us and ready to start playing. ” And indeed, Hazard is part of the group to face Celta Vigo at the Bernabéu this Sunday.

Vinicius and Isco, collateral damage

However, this return should not only make people happy. Because it is clear that an operational Hazard is a titular Hazard. Thus, the left side will soon be blocked for Isco and Vinicius Jr, the two candidates for the position during the past two months. The Brazilian, author of 3 small goals in 23 appearances, and the Spaniard, 2 goals in 20 games, will most likely suffer the return of the former Lille, and become increasingly rare. Perhaps Lucas Vasquez too, although the Spaniard is on the right, he could be in competition with Vinicius, since the latter can be transferred to the right wing.

Now that he's back, it is certain that Eden Hazard will be keen to catch up. But his return induces some agitation in the hierarchy, and the expectations around him still increased during his absence. A context that can be difficult for a player, if the pressure reaches him.
