The French Handball Federation (FFHB) and the League (LFH) have taken certain measures with regard to medical procedures in French clubs, following the revelation of pregnancy tests undergone "without consent" by players from Nantes . In a statement released Tuesday, the two authorities explain having taken "note of the misunderstandings expressed by the players regarding the information received from the doctor of the club ( from Nantes, Editor's note ) about the tests prescribed at the start of the season". Their main request is that the players be better informed of the procedures.

In the press release, the Federation and the League recalled that "the elements of the biological balance imposed by the regulation of the LFH at the start of the season are strictly limited to the NFS (blood cell count), reticulocyte, iron and vitamin D. The regulations of the LFH and the Federation do not provide for a blood test for the hormone Beta HCG or urine pregnancy test; such tests have never been planned and never will be. ”
The two bodies also explain that the medical committee and the president of the League met on Monday and made recommendations for future procedures: "Each doctor is invited to establish separately: on the one hand, a prescription corresponding to the examinations provided for by the regulation of the LFH under the minimum compulsory biological balance; on the other hand, another prescription corresponding to the possible additional examinations envisaged by the doctor at the end of his clinical examination, requested by the doctor under his sole responsibility ”.
