Like the meeting between Tottenham and Leipzig, the very first confrontation between Atalanta Bergamo and Valence in official competition will take place this Wednesday evening. The Lombard club had never played in the Champions League before. And he did not do the figuration since he managed to get out of pool C despite three defeats at the start of the European campaign. An exception! Valence, the club of Portuguese Gonçalo Guedes (ex-PSG), shone in group H by finishing first ahead of Chelsea, Ajax and Lille.

Why is the match at San Siro?

The relocation of the match to the San Siro stadium in Milan is explained by the ongoing renovation of the Atleti Azzurri d'Italia, stronghold of Atalanta. The choice to play Giuseppe Meazza (another name for San Siro) was made by mutual agreement between the city of Milan and its two clubs. However, only part of the stadium will be open to the public for security reasons.

Atalanta straight to the point

The Valencia defenders will have to be on their guard. Atalanta is the 4th best attack in Europe, just 4 goals from Paris, at the top of the ranking. She struck 7 times against Torino or Udinese. Significantly, each of its 70 goals in all competitions was scored by non-Italian players. Valence present a defense sometimes crumbly this season especially outside where they concede two goals on average with each displacement.
